Hello everyone,

The Pennsylvania Family Support and Home Visiting Conference: Supporting and Strengthening Families is fast approaching. Registration starts at 9:00am on Tuesday, June 12th with the first session of the conference starting at 12:30pm.

Please remember to download your conference tickets or have a screen shot of them on your phone before you arrive. There is a separate ticket for each day you’ll be attending the conference. The tickets will be used each day to check in and out of the conference. This will be important if you need professional development credits. Your tickets were attached to your email confirmation of your conference registration.

Events

With the support of Kaplan Learning Company, we are able to offer two evening networking sessions. We also thank Kaplan Learning Company for donating bags for our conference.

We hope you will join your colleagues from across the state at these evening events:

– Tuesday, June 12th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM – a Welcoming Reception with light snacks and a cash bar will be available in the Eisenhower Grand Ballroom.

Wednesday, June 13th from 8:00 – 10:00 PM – come out to the fire pit for a Bonfire and Ghost Stories! There will be two story telling sessions, one at 8:00 PM and one at 9:00 PM. Pre-registration is required. Look for another email with registration information.

Information on Professional Development and Training Hours

Act 48
Act 48 hours are available for those participants who have a teaching certificate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. A total of 10 ¼ hours will be awarded to participants who attend all three days of the conference. No partial or daily credit will be awarded.

To obtain Act 48 credits
– Check in at the CEU desk at registration to make sure that you signed up for Act 48 credits when you registered for the conference. Double check that your contact information is correct.
– Scan your ticket at the beginning and end of every day of the conference. This is the process we are using to document your attendance.
– Please complete the online workshop evaluation form. You will receive it at the end of each day of the conference. Your feedback is important to us.

PQAS
Pennsylvania Quality Assurance System (PQAS) training hours are available for early childhood and school age professionals. A total of 10 ¼ hours will be awarded to participants who attend all three days of the conference. No partial or daily credit will be awarded.

To obtain PQAS hours
– Check in at the CEU desk at registration to make sure that you signed up for PQAS credits when you registered for the conference. Double check that your contact information is correct.
– Scan your ticket at the beginning and end of every day of the conference. This is the process we are using to document your attendance.

Early Intervention Infant Toddler Staff Training Hours
EI IT Training hours are available for those participants who work in the Infant Toddler Early Intervention system. A total of 10 ¼ hours will be awarded to participants who attend all three days of the conference. No partial or daily credit will be awarded.

To obtain EI IT Training hours
– Check in at the CEU desk at registration to make sure that you signed up for EI IT Staff Training Hours when you registered for the conference. Double check that your contact information is correct.
– Scan your ticket at the beginning and end of every day of the conference. This is the process we are using to document your attendance.
– Please complete the online workshop evaluation form. You will receive it at the end of each day of the conference. Your feedback is important to us.

Nursing Education Contact Hours
Early Intervention Technical Assistance/Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing are collaborating to present the Pennsylvania Family Support and Home Visiting Conference: Supporting and Strengthening Families. Nurses attending the entire conference and completing the evaluation tool may receive 12.25 continuing nursing education contact hours. The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

To obtain Nursing Education Contact Hours
– Check in at the CEU desk at registration to make sure that you signed up for Nursing Education Contact Hours when you registered for the conference. Double check that your contact information, including your email, is correct.
– Scan your ticket at the beginning and end of every day of the conference. This is the process we are using to document your attendance at all three days of the conference. No partial or daily credit will be awarded.
– Please complete the online workshop evaluation form. You will receive it at the end of each day of the conference. Your feedback is important to us.
– You will receive an email from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing approximately 10 business days following the conference. If you do not see an email in that time period, please check your junk or spam email folder.
– The email from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing will include a link that will allow you to pay the $8.00 certificate fee. Once the certificate fee is paid, your contact hour certificate will be emailed to you.

Certificates of Attendance
Certificates of attendance will be available for participants who do not need a specific type of professional development credit, but who wish to document their attendance at the conference.

To obtain a certification of attendance
– Scan your ticket at the beginning and end of every day of the conference. This is the process we are using to document your attendance.
– Please complete the online workshop evaluation form. You will receive it at the end of each day of the conference. Your feedback is important to us.
– Stop at the CEU desk at registration to pick up your certificate.


Tips for a Successful Conference

Conference Reminders

Check in for the conference is in the lobby at the Aspire Hotel entrance

The following professional development credits are available for those who are attending the entire conference: Act 48, Infant/Toddler Early Intervention Staff Development Hours, PQAS, and Nursing. There will be a small fee for participants requesting Nursing credits. Please see the CEU desk at check-in for more details. If you need any type of professional development credits, you will need to check-in and out of the conference each day

The OCDEL Funded Family Support Programs Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 13th from 8:15 – 9:00 AM and repeated on Thursday, June 14th from 8:00 – 8:45 AM. All current Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV), Nurse Family Partnership (NFP), Home Visiting Expansion (HVE), Family Centers (FC), and Promoting Responsible Fatherhood (PRF) grantees must send at least one representative to one of the two sessions. This meeting is only open to current grantees. Other attendees may not attend. CTF grantees are not required to attend as they will be meeting Thursday afternoon

Come Visit the Data System Help Desk! The data system team for the Pennsylvania Home Visiting Data System currently used by Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) and Home Visiting Expansion (HVE) grantees will be available to answer your questions and listen to your feedback related to the data system throughout the event. Please check the agenda for the specific times they will be available each day

Room 4 has been designated for nursing mothers. A comfortable chairs and a small refrigerator will be available in the room. Please use the sign-out sheet on the door

Hotel Reminder

Please double check your hotel reservations. We have filled both of the conference center hotels. While all participants registered for their overnight rooms using the Eisenhower Conference Center reservations, some guests have been moved to an off-site hotel. If you were moved, you will receive an email with information from the Eisenhower Conference Center

Conference Attire

Please come prepared for the weather both inside and out! Hotel conference rooms are often difficult to keep at the perfect temperature. It’s best to dress in layers so you can adjust as needed

As you begin to pack, please know that Thursday, June 14th will be a Dress-Down Day. You are welcome to wear jeans
